Fred & CindyAC Problem
Our roof air conditioning is not working properly. The compressor comes on but the fan does not function at full speed. I have heard that these air-conditioners come as one unit. Is it possible to just replace the fan?

RustyIt should be possible to replace the fan motor, depending on the make and model. It's 25 years old, so it may be time to consider replacing the A/C; parts may not even be available.

REGLOVERSome of the older ac fans have a place to oil the fan motors. Might check to find out if this would help.

dr. bartYep .. Reglover has the right idea.... I can't believe the number of things I've repaired by taking it apart and inspecting ... Don't know what to do with all those extra screws...

Fred & CindyAfter further inspection I discovered that my sister-in-law had turn the temperature down way past 60° on the thermostat. I believe the compressor and fan are working too hard to keep up. I adjusted the temperature back up to 70 and it seems to work dine now.
