Jim and Tere2003 Breakaway odometer/speedometer problems
The PO had told us that on his way to Montana, the odometer/speedometer stopped working. He has kept diligent records of mileage so that we can approximate the miles since then. Any idea of what might be wrong? He said that after leaving Las Vegas for Bozeman, it went out and then later came back on for a bit. Is this an electronic set up or a standard cable driven speedo?
Thanks
Jim

john canningHave the same problem with my Breakaway. It is electric, and mine responded to spraying light oil into the lamp opening, but only for a while, since the mileage is not that high it is from lack of use, it is a sealed unit so the fix is get another, any that fits the dash should work. john

Deb&Eds38Jim:
I use my GPS to record speed and it will give me the milage driven also. Have a safe trip and hopefully we will meet up at one of the GTG's

kenny jJim, I don,t know if it could be in the connections, but the tachometer lead is on the alternator. It should be on top and the clip closest to the pulley. I believe it is labeled "R".

bud@YXYPO of our coach had speedo problems-- speed would go to 50 to 60 mph (or more) while still in his lane area. I suspect that mileage driven during that period (he was driving back and forth to work as the coach had not been run for several years and needed some use) would be overestimated as well.
He installed a new speedo and set the mileage on it (has a digital display) to that of the removed original speedo.
Ours is also a 1993 vintage Breakaway
