I trying to determine if i have catalytic converters on this beast . The only thing i see are two mufflers about 4 feet long . Can anyone verify that they didnt put cat converters on the ford 460 john deere in 1988?

You are correct, there were years that the 460 passed emissions without a Cat.

Maybe you can help me with another problem . I bought this rig and it has a fancy fitech easy street 600 hp fuel injection system on it . It was running like shit and after studying a lot of youtube videos i figured out it was an 02 sensor problem so i replaced it and now it runs fine , for now . The problem is i think the 02 sensor crapped out because there is oil in the exhaust . The pipes have an oily residue on them . How much oil is too much in the pipes . Im not noticing the oil level going down after i changed it . Im going to research what to do next .

I got it all running well for now . It was running on 7 cyl now it’s on all 8 . That might explain the fouled exhaust and the dead 02 sensor . I don’t know how long they were running it like this.
