Replacing hot water tank
I have searched using various terms and can't find what I'm hoping to find. Before I tested the water system, I was following lines, just looking at stuff when I saw the styrafome(?) on the hot water heater under the sink had a chunk missing and I could see a large split in the tank. So checked my Barth binder(no info), searched this website(1 result), looked at the problem a couple of times and am calling for help.

To replace the tank, this site says remove from the inside, pulling out the shelves and sink plumbing etc. It looks like the whole unit should pull out from the outside.

Which way do I replace the tank?

If you have a standard atwood or suburban RV hot water heater you remove it form the outside. The water lines hook up inside. Turn off the propane and loosen the connection. It will come out when you remove the tank.

Once again, Thanks for the info. I'll check locally for the tankless.

As usual, the information provided here made jobs much easier. Everything pulled apart as the posts said it should. No tankless readily available up here but a new tank is on order. The best part is that the last person to install the heater used plumbers putty around the edges. A bit of a pull, a bit of a push, out it came and cleanup was a breeze.
Once again, thanks to the forum.
