What concerns me most about the snow on top is not the catastrophic failure of the roof. What concerns me is if the side walls of the rig were to shift even a quarter of an inch. The rig doesn't have lateral trusses and depends on the rear wall and the internal walls for some of that stability. Up front, there are generally no walls like that. If the load on top were to cause the walls to shift, I am guessing the front windows would be none too happy. That is why I get the ladder out and remove the snow when it the depth gets noticable.

Richard_MuiseWell, I broke down and shoveled off the roof. I could swear I heard a sigh of relief from the Barth but that could have been from me exiting the roof!

GeraldI was a little more fortunate. Last week we finally got some good weather ( 38-42) 2 days of that combined with a 30 mph wind took about 90% of the snow off the roof. Three cheers for Mother Nature !!!

bill hMy dad used to keep a tarp over his RV. Between snowfalls, he and one of us kids (or Mom) would pull the tarp off (snow included) and use a coupla ropes to replace it back in position. This was the old style paraffin-treated canvas tarp, so nothing froze to it.

How's this for weather.... 2 weeks ago, we had 10 inches of snow, with sleet....daily temps between 10-15 degrees, lows at 0 to -4. Yesterday, it was 78 degrees...

bill hI think our biggest spread (in one day) this month has been 50-some degrees. 17 overnight and high sixties or low seventies in afternoon.

DougZFor us kayakers, we go NOTE (North of the equator) or SOTE (South of the equator) -the equator being the Sunshine Skyway. Anything SOTE is the "South". If you are north of the bridge you are yankees.

That's funny, because I had family in Bradenton, (first town north of Sarasota) and they thought they were missing frost from the North and hurricanes from the South. The best of both worlds, so they said.
