<Janna&Mike>1978 Barth gas tank filler neck
the left gas tank filler neck has a rotted hose connecting it to the gas tank. i'm trying to figure out how to get the filler neck separated from the hose. Hose and filler have been together so long they are fused. any suggestions for getting the hose cut or removed so it can be replaced???

hilarleePut on some safety glasses and gloves, get a really sharp utility knife and slowly cut a relief slit the length of the hose. Cut a little bit at a time...you should eventually cut through. The hose you're dealing with is incredibly tough. Be patient with it. Take it with you to the auto part store for comparison purposes.

bill hIf position allows, I like to stick an icepick or small screwdriver up between the neck and hose. Then sneak a squirt tube from a can of WD40 or CRC2-26 in there and give it a squirt. A couple of more times around, and it is more likely to twist off.
