Steering gear
I talked to Spartan and they said that the early 90's saginaw steering gear were problems. Mine is leaking and has play in it. The question is should i try a rebuilt for $600-800 or spring for a new one from Spartan for $1900.
Thanks

I had mine rebuilt, actually, did an exchange for ~$500, Over 100K miles on the rebuilt one and it is OK. the geometry of the steering on the 30' Spartan chassis is VERY BAD! Unequal left/right responses to steering input, is only part of the issue. Caster needs to be increased also to improve on-center tracking.

I put in a rebuilt Saginaw 710 in 08. Been fine ever since.
