smoke alarm
The other day I was watching a TV show called RV Today. They were showing a smoke alarm the had a button that allowed you to have a seven minute delay for when you are cooking something that might set off the alarm. I went to Home Depot and checked their smoke alarms and I did not find what I was loking for. Have any of you ever seen the type of smoke alarm that I saw? I would like to have an operating smoke alarm in my coach.

I don't really see the need. Every coach I have seen has a powered kitchen exhaust fan that vents to the outside (unlike some home kitchen units).

Keep the fan on prior to cooking, and you should have no smoke problems. I agree that having a smoke detector is absolutely necessary. Put one at the front of the coach, and one in the bedroom.

Change their batteries once a year.

I personally have never even heard of a detector with a delay like that.

I have a delay unit in my kitchen at home (Black and Decker) that is useful when error occurs in cooking. It save pulling the battery to shut it off until the smoke clears.

The smoke detector occasionally goes off in my coach when driving with the windows open as I pass large trucks. It seem really sensitive to exhaust.

I found the Kidde type with the delay and a light and have ordered two of them. One for the sleeping area and one for the living area. I was a fire fighter for thirty years and I know for a fact that smoke alarms save lives.
