Day/night blind problem.
I have day/night pleated blinds in the br. I like to sleep with the window open and the fan pulling in air when I am w/o electric hookup or the night is cool. For privacy I leave the d/n half down sometimes.

The problem is that apparently nighttime moisture has weakened the sharp factory pleats on the blinds and they do not fold properly when raising them now.

I am thinking of spray starching them and then immediately raising them fully, taking care to force the pleat to fold properly while still damp.

Will this work to restore the pleats?

Anyone have alternate suggestions?

Dunno. I DO KNOW you'll forever regret it if you break one of the (2) support strings.

I will probably replace them with miniblinds anyways when I get home. The reason they are like that is leaving them partially up for ventilation during damp weather.

Which prompts this question about d/n blinds. Why do they not mount upside down. Then one would lower them partially for some ventilation, while still preserving some level of privacy, unless the person outside were on stilts? Ever seen them reversed?

Other forum answers state that starch is the prescribed way to reset the pleats.

Nah, it's not too bad.

Susan is pretty good at restringing them. She did the first one by laying it on the bed beside a fully functional one and using it as a guide to make a diagram. She can be bribed with strong libation and good victuals should you run into us anywhere. We use braided ocean fishing line. Diagram on request. If you are far from the ocean, I can get anyone some line, too.
