distributor wiring
The previous owner of my 85 Regal, had installed a Nology Power Core ignition coil amplifier wired to the distributor. The power core directions say "Red wire to positive terminal marked with '+' or '15'. Black wire to negative marked '-' or '1'. My distributor is the type that has the coil nestled into a depression in the distributor cap. There are two wires, one red and one white, in one clip that clips into the distributor cap. The white wire seems to be called "tach" and the red wire is called "batt". Three other wires (black, black, and red), in a second clip, clip next to the first clip and one black wire goes to "C-" and one black wire goes to "ground" and the red wire goes to "B+". My problem is that a mechanic replaced the distributor cap recently and did not reattach the red and black wire from the Nology Power Core. I called Nology and they said the red goes to positive and the black goes to negative. Didn't help since I'm not sure which of the five wires are which. The Barth runs without the Power Core hooked up but doesn't have the advantage of the ignition coil amplifier. Any help???
