Radiator leak
Well, it looks like I will be using a rental car to go to the next road race on Wednesday. I was greeted by a very small fine spray of coolant coming out of the radiator this AM. Looks like one of the fins has a very small hole in it so I am now in the middle of pulling the radiator, NOT A FUN job!

Don't think, know if I can find a shop that can rework this one or find a new core and get it all done so I can get it in by Wednesday. Well try thou!

Will keep you all posted on the events.

Bummer, good luck Ed! Better that it happened in the driveway instead on the interstate. Wink

Ed,
Spend an hour on the phone calling local radiator shops. There are two in atalanta that will re-work old radiators, and I would guess that LA has even more.

They key is getting it to the shop asap, as they need 2+ days to complete the process.

Yes I agree, failures on the road are a bummer! I probably could have gotten away with "stop-leak" for this trip but I just don't like this stuff and what it does to the rest of the cooling components.

The radiator is still not out of the coach yet, it is a real BEAR! I will probably go on this trip in my truck, no time left.

The radiator has a very complex mounting system and if I have it re-cored, it will need to be checked very carefully. While I am in there, I am checking the intercooler and trans cooler as well.

I have finally gotten them separated from the main radiator but the main radiator will not come out of the opening. May have to take off the rear door and surround to gain enough clearance.

There are several shops near me that do re-coring and general rad fixing, the availability of a core is the only question.

More to come--

Well I am back from Elko NV racing and got the radiator out of the Barth, What a PITA!! Lots of stuff had to be removed, repositioned and then the bottom support of the entire radiator assembly had to be lowered.

I will be on the way to an industrial radiator shop to get it recored/repaired etc. this AM. After looking into the bottom neck, I can see a fairly heavy build up of deposits so it is time for a rebuild anyway.

I am trying not to find anything more to fix while in there -- but--
