Source for another one? How about 1972, which is 23-1/4 in tall? Need driver's front. 48 in wide at top. 47 in at bottom.

These windshields (both windshields above are the same) should be readily available from you local auto glass guy. Expect to pay about $1000 installed. The windshield wholesale is around $400 from Duncan Systems. Just for the fun of it I called 4-5 glass shops here in Minneapolis. There are way more than that, but I found a low of around $900 to a high of $1600 so shop around.

There is one thing that really turns me on and that is being wrong about pricing. Man if we can find a windshield replacement for that price let's verify it. That would save Barth owners thousands.

Thank you so much..

Hi doroughal,

I really need your help along these windshield lines. I called Duncan Systems and my local glass guys (three of them), here is the bottom line..

Glass.................................$619.00
crating and shipping.............$150.00
Installation.........................$150.00

Total.....$919.00 per side

If there is a place where that could be lowered to $150.00 It would almost pay for the vacation to go there to get it done.

HELP!!

The price I quoted was installed by Guardian Auto Glass, Birmingham, Alabama in 1999..Guardian is a nation wide company..Look at Google for the web page enter your zip code and it will give you the dealer in your area..We since have replaced the windshield in Tucson with a PPG window in 2003 price was 260.39 installed. Do not have the PPG number, work order indicated Guardian number DW730..Our Barth is a 93 33 foot pusher...I hope this helps

Jim

Dear doroughal and other Barth Friends,

I guess I don't know what to say. I have prided myself in wanting to provide the most valuable and accurate information on these windshields. So I have spent many hours calling and checking to try and find the very best deals on windshields. The cheapest I have ever found a windshield replacement was around $600 and then when I called back they had changed their price. Almost all were from $900-$1200. At the last rally, Lee Merriman reported that he had his windshield replaced for under $200.00. Virtually everyone in the room called him on it and accused him of just quoting his deductible. Everyone knows that a Barth windshield is $900.00.

Well I was wrong, big time. The problem is Duncan Systems and the contracts they have with these glass places. I searched today for someone who could match the Guardian number supplied above, and did not go through Duncan. I found a local guy here who would be happy to replace my windshield (if I needed it, I don't) for $336.00.

I am so very sorry for this misinformation. And, I am especially sorry if someone has overpaid because of this inaccurate information.

If anyone needs a windshield and can not find one at a reasonable price, let me know and I will search forr you best price on my dime.

If any reader ever sees something here that is inaccurate, there is no such thing as hurting anyone feelings by setting us straight. Inaccurate information is useless information..

And a special thanks to doroughal for giving us this info and forcing us to search just a little farther.

Dave

Great! Windshields at better prices. That's one of the great benefits of this website and other sites that are supported by people who appreciate a special interest pursuit! The quest is often more fun than the possession. Thanks, guys.

Now, since I posted the second inquiry to this thread, can we get another answer? Are the '72 windshield that I need and the one drdigger needs the same item?

This forum is all about helping fellow Barth owners. We are glad we could make a contribution. Goodness knows, you all have helped us enumerable times over the years. When we cracked our first windshield, we contacted Dandy's RV in Birmingham, AL which had been a part of the Barth dealer network at one time. They told us that the windshield was from a GMC 1-ton van. The Guardian number DW730 is the right and DW731 is the left side.

I have tried to find the cross reference numbers for other glass companies, but haven't had any luck.

Thanks for all your help,
