Even more unfortunate tire talk
Many of you might recall my pining about getting ripped off on a front brake job. I sued the guy and won a $900 judgment. The judgment was sent to the guy on Monday. Sometime yesterday some one put an ice pick in the sidewalls of all outside tires. Of course, they are not repairable.

I have the Boxer wide wheels on the front so I am stuck with the Dunlop Rover 33x12.5R16.5LT's.

However, on the back I have Michelin 8R19.5XZA's. Now I know in a previous post I said that I had Brigestones. I was wrong about that.

I suppose I will stay with the same tires in the back unless some of you experts can convince me of something else

If the law won't help you out in such an obvious situation, see Amendment 2, U.S, constitution.

Dave, what a shame.....I sure hope your local police will consider it more than just a bizzare coincidence & follow-up on it.....

FWIW: My new Michelins have performed well for 12 months & 7k miles, but there's others here who know MUCH more about tires than I........

Dave, I think you are too nice to do what I would do, but how about buying an ad in the local paper telling of your experience?

Bad mechanics suffer greatly from word of mouth.

Thanks for all of the advice. My wife seconds the 2nd ammendment suggestion.

Bill this guy has one driveway into his place and there is a public sidewalk and boulevard there. If this guys doesn't pay up on the judgement we were thinking about spending a couple hours there in the morning when shop customers show up, with this guys BBB listing, (which we didn't check out before the work was done) and just pass them out to incoming customers.

Dave:

I am very sorry to hear about the problems you have had with the person that worked on your Barth.

Now the inner child is rearing up and several things come to mind but at a more pragmatic level I wonder if your insurance covers vandalism? Or if you have road hazard coverage on the tires?

Best Regards:

Timothy

Thanks T&L, I due have insurance coverage, with a $500 deductable of course. The police suggest that I sue the guy in small claims again. since we found that the guy received his letter announcing that I had a judgement against him 2 days before the deed and that the perp knew that a hold in the side wall ruined the tire is enough info to get him.

Not a lawyer, but that sounds like felony vandalism to me. How about a citizen's arrest if the police won't do it? Might pay to talk to a lawyer or prosecutor.

I am sorry to hear about you tire loss. I am shocked that the police do not question or even better, interrogate him. I know of a gentleman with a Revcon motorhome who replaced all six of his tires and wheels with 16 inch wheels and is very happy with them. He said the 16 inchers are more readily available than the 16.5s should you lose a tire on the road.

You know the police may take an interest in this. They are turning this over to the detectives who will probably call this guy in and make him feel bad. I have lived in this house for 23 years and they all know me. They have a lot of sympathy and are going to do as much as they can.
