fridge removal
While the 91 Breakaway is in the shop in Allentown, one of the items was to see if the frig worked.

Anybody ever take a frig out of a Breakaway? If so, any suggestions? It's a Dometic 3-way.

Good news about the frig. It looks like it will be fine. This is a really good Barth and Tere and I hope we will do the previous owner proud with our work.

With regards to replacing it solo, I did just that. Made a roller thingy to get past the sofa.

Where are the pics of the "new" one? Inquiring minds want to know.

Had to remove mine thru the driver side large glass over the sofa. Was bigger than my entry door. Talk about a four man job. head bang

I remove ours in the breakaway. Took off all the doors and other stuff. A friend helped me pull it out, lift it over the counter and lay face down on the living room floor. Removed the cooling unit, replaced same. Hooked every thing back up. Lifted it over the counter, slid into place and replace all the doors etc. Hooked up the electric and gas and we were ready to travel.

Old post but my suggestion may help another. Regarding a '92 Breakaway, front entry, curb side kitchen counter, fridge opposite side (believe floor plan 11B)with original Dometic 3way needing removal. Suggestions: Remove doors, slide fridge out and onto cardboard cut about a foot larger than fridge. I was not interested in trying to lift fridge over counter. The permenantly mounted sofa prevented sliding the upright fridge to the front living area. Used a sawzall to cut a couple inches from the fridge sheet metal base leading edge. This allowed me to slide/pivot the upright fridge through the counter-sofa opening. Use additional cardboard to protect counter and sofa from marring. I too successfully replaced the cooling unit (about $550 and more importantly, no carpentry needed). No need to remove fridge from coach - performed work inside coach. About a 12 hour job and an occasional helper advisable. I welcome any questions via PM's (or thru this thread)
