RustyWindshield Washer Passthroughs
I noticed that the tiny hose barb feeding the washer head on the driver's side wiper had broken off, so I ordered replacement passthroughs from
Mill Supply, P/N EA 49-258.
Expecting this to be a 5-minute job, I learned differently. The hole for the passthrough is too close to a 2"x2" steel upright...and I couldn't get the backing nut loose. A ΒΌ" drill got the old one in pieces.
Since I couldn't install the "normal" way (by tightening the backing nut - not enough clearance to turn, then connecting the hose - and not enough clearance for the hose to slip on [ask how I learned this]), I disconnected the hose from the tee near the washer pump (so it wouldn't twist when I tightened the fitting), threaded the nut loosely, connected the hose and turned the front fitting until the assembly was snug.
One advantage of the new fitting is that the hose barb for the washer head hose is metal - and threaded, unlike the Mill Supply image. The PO must've replaced the passenger side fitting, because it was also metal.
