Transmission Temp
Roy, that is a good common-sense approach. But considering the expense and inconvenience of a transmission rebuild, more cooling is a good thing to spend money on. My breakdowns seem to be badly placed and timed. In one instance, I lost three days' pay, paid too much for towing, paid too much for a rebuilt tranny, and did not get to have it done the way I wanted, and had to do the change myself.

Oh, one more thing: synthetic fluid will make most trannies run cooler.

olroy, bill h., et al thanks for the tips.

Mr Obvious here did not check the trans fluid after the rebuild - it was TOO FULL! Bill H. - you are right, if it needs to be done right you gotta do it yourself - stoopid me for not checking right away.

Just to be on the safe side I am replacing my small trans oil cooler with a large HD w/ fan. I am going to wire the fan to a switch on the dashboard to operate when I want. I seem to have plenty of room in the engine compartment to install this unit.

Keep you posted.
