Oil pan
i have to replace the oil pan on a 8,3 commins .Do I have to remove the front gear cover or, raise the motor?

Why do you want to change the pan? They rarely wear out.

I haven't done it myself but I did have the oil pan gasket replaced. The engine did not need to be raised and the front gear cover was not removed. I didn't witness the replacement so I can't say that the entire pan can be removed out of the Spartan chassis, although I was under the impression that mine was removed and replaced with the gasket. The one comment that I do remember was that there was one bolt on the pan that was extremely difficult to access.

All of the bolts on the right side and front wre loose .I retightend allof the bolts but to late still leaks.
