C Class bunk modification
Has anyone have advice on how to cutaway the ceiling /bunk on the cab? I was thinking of opening it up like the more modern c class. Besides opening it up to get easier access to the back, it will give a more open feel. The bunk is so low that its almost useless anyway, and I could use the space to custom build a entertainment center /tv area with added storage space. I could still use it in a pinch for a childs sleeping area if I put the cutout back in when needed. There is one flaw that i can think of is the front curtain would not be usable as it is, as it has a full length track. Now i know that their are few c class owners here but someone must have some advice, but im fairly innovative and could come up with a decent result. One thing is.. will the bottom bunk floor be able to support weight after the removal of the stuctural framing?

This sounds neat... DO you have a picture of your interior?

Look for a welding shop or auto place that has race cars or are known to be racers. They can install a roll bar from the floor of the truck to the roof of the camper and install connections for cross pipes to support the bunk, the truck and the camper. You will not be able to remove the camper though, but it sounds like you want it open anyway. Once the roll bar/cage is in you can address the finish work in your spare time.

On my old SOB, the bunk shelf could be slid forward for room, and back when needed.

I'll try this again: - forum gave me an error and lost the post. Attached is a pic of my old SOB - the retracted bunk section can be seen above the roof cutout. The key is whether your roof is cut out like this one, otherwise it could be a major job.

EDIT: I've tried a half dozen times to attach the photo, but I get a 530 FTP Not Logged In error; I don't feel like screwing around with a ditzy webhost. email me and I'll send a copy...

There are some things that I can control, and others that I can not.

I have always tried to keep everyone informed of things that might happen or have told you about things that have happened.

This is one issue that I can not control. If you would like to send me the pictures I will place them in my photobucket and link it for you. Please send me the pictures or attachments to

I am sorry if anyone is having a problem. Frowner

I have been told that this condition started when they pre-set themselves up for the move. I have been assured that this will be straightened out after the move.

Any questions about these issues will be addressed over here.

Yeah, I don't place any blame on you for glitches caused by the host move. When I had my insurance agency, we absolutely depended on reliable broadband. Our provider moved our node closer to us for "enhanced performance". We were down for four days, and only a call to the Executive Assistant to the company president yielded results. In 20 minutes...

And I did not mean to cause you any grief either Bill. Anyhow I opened a photobucket account as I noticed in other posts about having to buy higher bandwith for the site due to the high resolution pictures. Hope that helps and I overcame the login error problem to boot. Keep up the good work Bill N.Y.
