Aftermarket levelers.

Jim and TereAftermarket levelers.
I would like to install levelers on our '85 P30. Maybe even on the '91 Breakaway(Spartan). HWH sells an aftermarket hydraulic system but only through RV dealers. I was hoping to buy something that I could install myself. Hopefully electric.

Steve VWI have HWH hydraulic levelers on Barth. I don't use them that much (rarely use the front ones at all.) If I didn't have em I don't think I'd miss them much.

RustyMy Breakaway already has the mounting pads for 4-way levellers (HWH),but I've never found a reason to miss them. If they were cheaper, and IF HWH didn't use so many proprietary (and expensive) parts, I might consider them, although I don't know if I could sleep if the coach were level.

Levellers are one (four) more thing(s) to crap out when you least need it.

MWrenchOne of the biggest reasons IMHO to have and use jacks to level the coach is to insure the refrigerator is level while operating long term stationary. I know of many coaches that have had refrigerators replaced because they were off level. Mine was a perfect example. The PO never used the jacks as he was constantly worried that if he got the jacks down he would never get them back up. He had to replace the refrigerator.
Most all refrigerators owners manual state to make sure the coach near level while operating stationary. While going down the road there is enough movement to keep the ammonia sloshing around and hot spot will not occur.

Jim and TereLee, what do you do, cut them the length of the two rear wheels, around 2',and then use them like a ramp, i.e., 1 high, then 2 high, then 3 high? Or do you have sets nailed or screwed together, of two high, and three high. Figure anything more than three high and the site is too bad to stay on. Although I have seen motor homes at campgrounds with the front end up on the jacks and the whole thing maybe 2' up in the air. Sounds dangerous to me.
Jim.

Jim.
Two foot lift does seem extreme. But lift of one end is not dangerous if air brakes are set.

Our fail a lot. We split them regularly. Perhaps due to the rocky, uneven terrain where we end up. We now use a layer of thin plywood glued and screwed to the two-bys. Not much cracking any more.
I've worked out a trigonometric method for getting it perfect the first time.
We need a lot of lumber, again, because of rough sites. I doubt levelers would do us much good.
Sometimes we end up digging a hole for the lowest wheel and at least one wheel hanging in thin air.
Every time I do the ramp shuffle, I say to myself, "Three Thousand Dollars, Three Thousand Dollars......."

dustyjeeperWell I love the levelers. Thinking about finding some used ones for the toaster. They also get rid of that swaying of the coach when someone else is walking around.

Medic37Hold this thread!
In about a month, I will be somewhere where you won't believe what people do to "level" their coach or camper and everything in between.
Dana knows exactly where I am talking-about.
I [we] will have to post some photos...

Why yes I do especially Northwoods and ever spot in every campground that are on that undulating ground.
Funny all my picture are of things I can't share on this family oriented forum.
Can't wait to see the pics. We have been talking about going again. Maybe next year!

Jim and TereRe pic of the Dolphin jacked up. Honestly, I've seen motor homes jacked up in campgrounds with the front end 3' or more off the ground
