Danny,

This is not "in addition to", but "instead of". The tape is put down over the hole or tear and that's that. It is not necessarily the best or most elaborate repair, but likely the quickest and cheapest. The bond is claimed to get stronger with time.

Me too. We also have West Marine here in Venice and they carry a full line of DuPont adhesives and sealers.

Here's the roof work so far. I sanded under the edge to bare aluminum and used a whole tube of 5200. Now I'll power clean the rest of the roof and mesh tape the edges and laps and coat the whole thing.

That's my homemade Genturi. It's a little crooked looking in the pix but it hooks up to the exhaust of the genny and draws it up over the roof. I use it at Talladega to keep from fumigating everyone out. I hang a flag from the top, about 4 feet over the roof.

Do you use an air gap or does the hot exhaust go right up into the PVC?

The pic is deceiving. When the metal strap is straightened out there is about 1 1/2 inches air space between the pipe and the PVC. I've run it for hours and the PVC never gets too hot to touch.
