We just brought home a 1995 Barth Mobile Office. Drove from
Atlanta to Denver to get it home. Quite the shakedown. Needs some electrical work and maybe bigger springs up front. Can wait to get started.

There have a few of these on this site. short WB with HD Chaises. 19.5 wheels 4 wheel Disk. Checking front air bags are not leaking. Not bad to replace. Good luck and enjoy.

GM used the same springs for several different chassis. For the heavier ones they put air bags inside the front coils, with varying amounts of air, to adjust ride height.



If yours are shot they can be replaced reasonably easily. see here: (use hose clamps to compress!)

Personally I think GM took the cheap way out. The air bags will increase the ride height, but they make the ride stiffer. The best solution is to buy aftermarket springs, like SuperSteer, etc. They are available in 200 lb increments to match the load and height perfectly and they ride better. Much more work to install however.

Or, you can weigh the front end and have springs made specifically for the weight of your Barth. That's what we did for Old Blue. Super Steer Products. Worked great. No need to mess with air bags.

I was bit amazed how much new airbags in Nose, improved the ride. They got a bit low on air and I could sure tell the ride difference. I did not notice much change in ride height when I inflated them, but then, I only go to 60psi

Debating putting coil over shocks on ole Nose, need new ones anyway. Existing ones are original almost 40 years. Opinion?

If you mean coil-over like struts with a coil, I like the idea. If like an overload spring maybe not so much unless the spring is normally compressed perhaps 20%. My experience was rear not front springs, unloaded compression was just beyond touch. Spring rate gave a rebound with a pothole and a look in the mirror to see if the rear departed on washboard roads.

I found a pair , yes like coil struts, but they seem to light duty for a motorhome chassis.
