Anyone know how I can find out how many 1989 22 Foot Regals were built ? The guy we bought it from was the third owner, and he claimed only 2 89 models were built.

Good question Jeff.

But from what I understand all the coaches Barth Co. built were custom orders. That in itself would require having a look at the Company production records for that year.

The Data Tag information may be helpful as long as you have access. I see you are kind of new member.

Send me your Data tag # and I'll have a look to see how the build date works out with what info we have in the memory banks. Computer Cool

There is no records of Barth's. If you want to search you will find that because of dispute between Barthmobile and the holder of those records will keep those number being unknown. Data project has helped. There are 3 1989 22' coaches listed in Data project.

Yes Dooman you are spot on. we are totally dependent on our members having the Data entered into the memory banks.

Couldn't come close to the number of Jeff S.'s coach. With the exception of 8912-3653-31J.As we can see it is 31' long.

Please forgive me for my ignorance, but what is data project and can I see it? Is my coach now entered into the Barth site archives so its running and registered status is known?
So is 3 a definitive number, or does that mean there's 3 that are known FOR SURE?

After I asked about the Data Project I searched the forums, and I'll check it out. I'll be happy to send a picture of the tag when I find out how to do it.

your coach has a build date of 8912 that it make it a 1990 model. The data tag was the work of Nick Cagle. It the best collection of data of Barth's Once you click on data tag you can find coaches, vin #, build Seq#, owners, and photo. Will take a little time to get to figure it out.

My title says it's a 1989. It was shipped to the first owner in December 1989. He received it January 4 1990. The raw chassis was shipped from Detroit in June of 1989 to Barth in Indiana. All the blue prints have dates of 1989. The first owner paid $60,400.00 for it in 1989. I even have the original sales brochure and I "think" every piece of paperwork associated with it. So I don't know what to think now.

It is normal for coaches built after Julu to be new model year. The auto industry uses Sept.as year model year change dates.

Like the auto industry, coach builders often referred to "model years," as Craig wrote. It made sense for the auto guys, since they stopped production every summer to retool for the next model year. I don't know why the coach mfrs did it, since designs did not change that much or that often.

Officially I guess it varies by state. Some regard the chassis build date as the model year, others go by date of delivery.

My coach data tag indicates it was completed in August of 1997. It is titled as a 98 in Michigan. No coaches were built after December 1997, Barth RSV folded in January of 1998. I think they carried the paperwork into 98 to delay the financial taxes and bankruptcy process.

That is why I refer to my coach as a "98" in my signature. To further confuse the issue, both my coach (#M0037) and Roller's coach (#M0041) were built on Spartan chassis built in the same week of April 1995! So now what yaer are they?

You can call yours an 89, or a "90 model" I guess. Depends on who is asking.... ROTFLMAO

The Class C Barths also have no clear year models. Every one seems different. Ours is a 1974, but there is no "1974 model" style as far as I can tell, as others of the same year are visibly different in configuration and even body shape (albeit slightly). We call ours 1974 because that's what the data tag indicates.
