Well as much as Dana tries to mess up the Mississippi River in Iowa we fight back. "Finally" it is dropping to bass fishable heights. Just in time for the big Bassmaster Nation tournament starting tomorrow. First time ever held on this pool of the river. Pools 13,14,15 are usable. Kinda poor fishing here in pool 13, the massive invasion of White Pelicans has killed the reproduction of feed fish. They also eat all the young bass so we have had very little recruitment in the last years. They will probably travel south into the other pools. They are good fishermen maybe they will find some good fish. Those boats going south are in for a $200+ gas bill everyday.

The campground near the launch site is full for the first time this year, maybe the 4th and this tournament have brought in folks. Good for our economy. Curious how the TV cameras and crew work things out. Don't think it will be live TV just recorded for later airing.

Well the bass tournament 1st day was a lot better than I predicted. Looks like almost everyone went south to the lower river pools. First day 5 bass limit was almost 16 pounds, and 3 bass limit was about 7 pounds. These were the heaviest weight bags. Thats very good for the river in this area. Picture shows weight in line up on the left, main stage and TV camera on the right.

The weigh in today at the bass tournament was more along the lines I anticipated. The weights were about half of those yesterday. Still fair for the river. Wonder about tomorrow, last day! The campground is still full!!

Thought this tournament would be a good restock of the breeding bass in our pool 13, but the smartdonkeys from Bassmaster packed the caught fish in a big tank on a truck and took them back south, assume to pools they mostly came from.
