Bill asked why I don't turn on the other UBB codes. Many of you who go to some of the other great RV sites like rv.net or irv2.com know that there are a lot of posting options. Plus it is really easy to post photos etc.

Well when I started this site 5 years ago I just bought the one copy of this forum. At that time it was really expensive to have an up-datable plan so I didn't. So what you see is what is available.

Now the Ultimate Bulletin Board people have have been acquired by the Groupee Community which is the software that irv2 and rv.net use. So with in the next month or so Barthmobile will have a major overhaul. I will make sure it doesn't look like the others but will have all of the features. It will still be a non-commercial no-cost community just like now.

There will be the option for each of you to have your own photo gallery under your name. So we can see pictures of your coach and your grandchildren. That is where the cost comes into the picture because that is where they make their money on the storage. So we will discuss at that time if you all think it would be worth, let's say $10 a year to have your own online gallery. If you want to post a picture in a post you can upload directly into the post. Won't have to worry about Photobucket going out of biz. Groupee is the forum used by the Discovery Channel and even Home Shppiing Network. So I think they are pretty solid.

You know, I have received some very nice notes over the years thanking me for the website. But, I have always felt guilty because if it were not for our dear friends the Kaufman's who have been our friend and have lived down the street for over 20 years there is probably no way this site would be here. Daughter Rachel developed the site, at the age of 16 and genius and all around nice guy father Jim Kaufman hosts the site on his computer. There is no way the overestimate the value of Kaufman's in making this site possible. This change will be a big one, because it will be hosted by Groupee.

I'll make sure everything goes smoothly. The site may be down a part of a day or a day maybe. There is a lot of customizing so we may try things that won't work but we'll work it all out.

But most importantly you all will still be here and you are the essence to the existence of the website for sure.

Will you still allow us to host images from our own site? If people pay for the image hosting can this be remote linked too?

$10.00 is more then reasonable. Any thoughts to what someone said earlier about giving more functionality to people who donate? I see a value in donations but others might not. I wouldn't want to exclude anyone from posting if they don't want to donate but some site give people who donate the added functions like images, colors and Avatars.

I just hope you get enough donations to keep the feel of this community without getting hit with a pop-up for Viagra (pun intended) or something else.

Like I said before ,get the two guys with the front end loader to help with any wiring needs,to keep the cost down. If the cost is only to be $10.00 this will be a great deal for all of us. Keep up the great work. JKB

Bill, if you question is can you link from your personal gallery to Ebay or RV.net, I don't know, good question. However, remember that this is a no charge website and bandwidth is bandwidth. I would say if you want to host photos for purposes other than Barthmobile a place like Photobucket is probably better because of all of the extras they offer and it's free.

As far as puting photos in posts, you will be able to upload directly to the post so you would bypass the entire second party hosting thing.

Yep, that's what I meant. I was asking if for the image fee would they allow hosting images as well. I know bandwidth is bandwith I just didn't know what was allowed.

In my case it's not a factor as I have my own website and can host my own pictures. I was hoping to find out if I did upload a pic could I then remote link if I was trying to make a point on another website?

Dave,

As you know, I have always advocated for you to create an environment where you bring in enough money to underwrite this forum. Your generosity is immense and I appreciate this. However as a Barth owner, I count on this website to be around because it is important to me, and many others, for many obvious reasons. Because of this I have been and will continue to be willing to pay for upkeep.

I like the plan for the upgrade and will be happy to pay even $20.00/yr for access. I'll be looking forward to the changes.

Bill I think you can. The really positive thing is one can upload photos and other images directly to the post and not have to do the hosting thing. After more discussion with Groupee I find that individual photo galleries would not be available at the level I am looking at but one gallery that all would be able to post to.

Bill thank you for the kind words. As I have said many times, my contribution is minuscule to the success of this site compared to all of you.

One of the reasons I am doing this is to assure the continuation of the site. If, God forbid, something happened to me, or I won the lottery and cruised off in the sunset in my 45 foot 2007 MCI conversion bus then it would be easy for some one else to just start paying the monthly payment. Actually, if I won the lottery, I'd still go after a 33ft Breakaway with a 240 7.3L and a 6 speed Allison. Of course, I would have a 32in LCD HDTV installed above the dash...

If you don't have a website then send me your picture and I will host it on my site. I'll send you the link and instructions on how to do it.

If you do have a site and the picture is already there then insert it between these your picture will then show up. The only thing is that the two tags must be touching.

so is what it will look like just make sure that this ] [ needs to touch the link on Both sides

Did you noticed that the .gif[/img] is not touching? If it was it would look like this

If anyone else needs me to host a pic then send it on. I pay for my bandwidth and I have a little bit to spare so it's no big deal.

Bill, No I don't have a web site. This is one area of computers that still is way over my head. Are you saying that you can add a pic to my signature from your web site? If so I will e-mail it to you.
