In the Foothills, (Yuma) gas is at 2.95, 3.05, and 3.15 depending on grade. However diesel is now cheaper than gas at 2.79 a gal.

Charlotte, NC, $2.89 for 87 octane, and $.10 more for each up grade to 89 and 93 octane. Knoxville, Tenn is the same, even though their state tax on gasoline is lower.

$2.92 for reg. @ Costco today. $3.01 @ Shell across the street.

For 87 octane, low was $2.79 just off the Ohio Turnpike.....The UP of MI and the PA Turnpike shared the high water mark at $3.01.......

Diesel hung in the low $2.90's the whole way....how do these truckers do it

If my motorcycle experience is any indicator, you could run a lot more compression and a little more advance, and gain a lot of power. But, yes, it would drink more. We had to drill out carb passages and jet way richer. Oh, the smell of methanol and castrol R.

Diesel was anywhere from $3.09 in sunny California to $2.83 in Oregon to $2.95 in Washington last week. Got a fill up in Northern Washington and will be good to go 'til back in Oregon somewhere. Could go further but want to get better prices before I get back to California. I also want an empty tank when I get home.

I am going to change the filler location on the tank when I get back, real pain, after it first click off, I can get another 10 gallons in before the tank is comletely filled. Takes a long time to let the foam settle between each squirt! In Oregon, you are not allowed to pump your own fuel so unless the guy is REAL patient, you will not go away full.

FWIW, when the guage shows about 1/4-3/8 I can get 40-45 gallons in, (takes about 1/2 hour with all the fooling around with foaming) good for over around 500 miles.

Quite happy with the mileage this trip, averaging 11.6 MPG and most of that was up the coastal highway (101) and that is certainly not freeway going! Lots of hills, curves, small towns, etc.

I paid $3.09 per gallon for Diesel last night. $3.05 for gasoline.

I saw on the TV were our German counterparts are paying $6.00 per gallon and the Brits are paying $6.60 per gallon. We really don't have it as bad as some other people are.

I agree with you BillNY, but most North Americans think that cheap gas is some sort of birthright. Maybe we've just been lucky.
