I know price is subjective. The Barth i recently spoke of was originally listed at $8000 then lowered to $6500. I offered $5000 without looking at it first. I have since looked at it. It runs good but needs all new batteries. Have to jump start it each time. The coach needs work. The side door drags when trying to open it. Some outside hatch covers need riveted back on. There are a couple of leaks in the roof. The coach has been sitting since 2010. It may need a tire as well. They wont take the cost for a new start battery out of the cost of the rig. It does come with a blue ox tow bar and brake buddy but not the part that bolts to the toad. If any one can give their oppinion if the coach is worth it, please let me know. P.s. it doesnt have air ride either.

Klareellis, Most vehicles that have sat around need batteries. There is a post here on how to resurrect the batteries with epsom salts. I will find the post and you can try it till you get the batteries replaced.
The door and the basement doors sound cosmetic. There are links on here where to buy closed end rivets for the doors needing rivets replaced.
If the leaks have not caused damage to electrical or major wood rot, you should be okay.
Get the tires aired up before you drive the Barth. If you find the data tag, the data tag will show your tire pressure. If not look for pressure on the tires.
Brake buddy and Blue Ox units are a bonus.
Sounds to me like it is worth it if you are handy. Sweat equity is cheaper than hiring a RV specialist. You will get your money back in the form of enjoyment when you use your Barth.

Lead Acid Battery Repair I did the repair stated. Keep in mind it takes about 3 days for a regular car battery charger to put the power back in a D8 battery. My results were 50/50. It did repair one battery.

Also, check the date code on the tires. Anything much older than 7 years would need to be replaced regardless of what they look like. Read SteveVW's post again about the chassis. Do you have any documentation showing the history of the unit and what kind of repairs have been done? Sitting for 8 years is a long time, but you have said it runs well. But $5K doesn't seem bad considering the fact that everything seems to work. Pictures would be helpful.

I went ahead and bought the Barth. I've come to realize that owning a Barth is comparable to owning a classic car. Care and maintenance on such a vehicle as an 1983 Barth Regency is inevitable and part and parcel of the journey.
I am still working out issues with the rig before driving it home. I've till Jan 15th to get it moved. It is an 81 mile trip. Once I've got it home, I will do my part of being a Barth owner and post pics and info then. The previous owner is a barthmobile member "ironsides". His posts are the history of the rig and I am super excited to continue the adventure.

Yes, Klare, I think you have made a good purchase. It is an investment of fun in the future. Bud, the previous owner thinks I like working on my Barth more than I like driving the old Barth.

It is the MCC chassis I am concerned about. Availability of parts.
But I cannot judge how handy someone is. I wish you the best luck.
