My dream car. If anyone ever hears of one, I'm here--at least for the moment.

Tere and I have had so many Volvos, we've lost count. When we were first married, 35 years ago, we used to buy them, fix them, and sell them to make a little extra money. One PV 544, 122s, 142s, 145s, 242s, 240s, 245s, and one 945. Maybe 30 in all. My grandson who will start to drive next year was given a 79 242 that we originally had and gave to his mom, who gave it to him. A really nice 242 GT of this vintage will bring around $8K. Yes, I have a serious illness--Volvoitis. Goes along with my Barthitis.

Old volvos are getting so hard to find. I had a p1800 once, and more 240's than i can count.

I know 240's well. My niece walked away from a Volvo 240 wreck in which she shouldn't had. I was hooked - so each of my four children were given a used 240 when they turned 16. They had to drive it for a year. The deal was they could keep their 240 and be given $4K or turn it back in to me and get $5K. Every one kept their Volvo's. Two of them were "coolest car" in yearbooks. Two of them are still driving theirs today, many years later. One with 340K miles. My daily runner is a '84. The best damn cars ever built.

Shortly after she got her driver's license, my daughter ran into the back of a Chrysler K car. She was driving a 1972 Volvo 145. The front of the Volvo sort of crumpled. Meg opened the driver's door and walked out unscathed. The Chrysler was bent in two. Fortunately, the two people in the Chrysler were ok. We salvaged most of the parts of the 145 for another Volvo. This same 145 had run into the back of a minivan about 2 years earlier. My son was driving it. The back of the minivan was toast. My son went on to his date for the evening. The front bumper of the Volvo was easy to straighten out.

My orange 1976 245 is very dear to my heart. I (Doris) was on the backseat when my dad testdrove it and bought it as a brand new stationwagon. I waxed and polished it and was never allowed to drive it. - Then finally my dad turned the keys over to me 2 years befote he passed. We drove it from Switzerland to Amsterdam and 4 weeks later picked her up in Jacksonville. My sweet Swedish brick Tooling Along

She runs like a champ.

Thanks. If I find a nice 242gt for sale, will you drive it over here? ROTFLMAO

How goes the restoration? One of these days, I hope Barthmobile will fix our problem with pictures. In the meantime, I really appreciate you buying the Barth from me. It was more than I could handle and your skill set is such that it belongs with you.

I'll drive it Cool
Our Volvo took a nice cruise from Amsterdam to Bremerhaven, Southhampton, France, Spain, Morocco, Venezuela, Mexico ending in Jacksonville. $800 for the RORO(roll on roll off) with Hoegh Autoliners, $300 customs etc.
No damages, only stole my 2 safety vests (mandatory in Europe). And it cranked right up contrary to many new Mercedes on the same boat LOL
At least they did not turn the boat over ...

I have 40 interesting shots that Tim sent me. I have been unable to load or display any of them. PB is completely useless and has been for two months...
