That pic was taken within minutes of the pic of you, Suzy, and Deb solving the worlds problems, and you guys don't look to bundled up.
Didn't mean to hijack the thread, just wanted everyone to see the pic.

Time to travel restraint would limit me to Alabama or Georgia, but would like to be at a Barth Rally. I went to Durant, Mississippi just to meet another person that owns a Barth and on my way out of town I spotted another Barth, a class c. Now I gotta go back down there to see that one.

Hi guys,

Depending in time of event, Georgene and I would be interested in attending. North Carolina is a stretch from MA, but it would be a nice trip. I look forward to seeing how this develops.

I have talked to several parks in the Cherokee area that do not have space available for a rally of any size the middle of October. Too many "Leaf Lookers", their terminology. We could do September 19 to 21 without a problem. How does that work for everybody?

Looking for feed back , but we need it fast guys!!!

That would work fine for me - I can putter around for a couple of days, then go early to the Peach State later that week.

Are we on for the Cherokee area for Sept 19 to 21? That would be great for me. I think my 85 Regal can make it that far.

I've stayed at twice at Whispering Pines Campground and Cabins on US 76, just east of Morganton. Very nice, but there's a hairpin turn at the entry, a bit hard for 38'+ coaches. Very nice, secluded, little park under the trees.

Ray and Anne met me at Creekside RV Park on US 64 east of Murphy (stayed there twice as well). Also a nice, wooded, little park, but it's adjacent to the highway.

OT: Not going to Jekyll Island was a good call - they had a tornado warning this afternoon. Glad you made it back OK to Appling - not a pleasant travel day...

I have Trailer Life Campground Directory on my peecee; if I can help locate RV parks, let me know.

I do think that if any parks require deposits for reservations that those of us planning to go should be prepared to make sure Nick incurs no obligations.

I will drive to Cherokee this weekend and check the cammpgrounds out and try to set it on Sept 19 - 21. Did anyone see the segment on RVTV last week about the campground outside of Ashville?

Anne and I drove up to Cherokee yesterday to look at the campgrounds there and here in Murphy. The Cherokee Campgound is not too swift, I would not stay there.
Cherokee/Great Smokies KOA was very nice and about 7 to 8 miles out of town. It does have a creek for fishing, trout, will have to have a tribal fishing license. This campground has an enclosed pool and hot tub. A restaurant and store are on premises. It looks like a 50 amp service at the 9/19/08 area is about $43.99 plus. This area would be about 60 miles from Murphy and about 65 miles from there to Asheville and about 8 or so miles from the Casino and tribal bingo. Check out the reviews.
Fort Wilderness was ok but on side of a mountain and would be hard to level up. And the lots are small. Not too impressed.
Happy Holiday RV Park was on Us 19 in the Soco area and could accomadate us fine. Nothing exceptional about the camground. The lady said it would be about $40 per site for 50 amp.
Yogi in the Smokies was a good sized campground but very small and crowded sites. We did not care too much for it.
River Valley Campground was on BIA road as was the KOA. This is a private campground with nice sites right on a nice babbling brook. This campground was closed yesterday, but looking at it was very nice with the waterfalls and all and the sites were level and nice. They are currently doing some construction on the sites. In the Trailer Life Directory, last year's fees were $27 tp $30. The directory said there are pet restrictions.
On way back home, we stopped a Peace and Velly campground here in Murphy. This campground is on the Valley River and off down in a valley fo the main highway. the fees are $25 to $30. This about 3 miles out of town and about 55 miles to Cherokee.
Give me your thoughs on these for the weekend of September 19 to 21 2008.
We watched a segment of RVTV the other day and they were highlighting a campgrond out of Asheville that was very nice.
