Denver bound
Steve VW good to hear that all is good. I am in Rock Springs WY now and will leave after breakfast. I have never seen so many RVs in a WalMart parking lot! At least 25!

Breakaway ran well although it still is running a bit warm. All electrical gremlins seem to have gone away at least for now. Cruise Control really good now that I cleaned up the interface box circuit.

The high mountains were no problem, if I didn't get stuck behind trucks I could maintain 40-50 all the way over Donner Pass.

80 out of SLC East was a LONG SLOW RUN. In third at 40 MPH all the way over that grade to Echo Lake. I have been pulling my equipment trailer now for 15K miles and still getting used to having that thing behind me. Constant attention is required for sure.

Steve VW, Dustyjeeper I will call you guys later when I get in the Denver area.

Another great day. Spent Monday with sister at the Denver Botanical Grarden. Perfect timing as almost everything is in bloom.

Today we met with MWrench and DustyJeeper, north of Denver. Ed got his side glass replaced, so Liz and I, and Larry, drove over to meet him at the RV repair place. We all had lunch together. As always, a good conversation and a great time. Tomorrow we will head back east. Plan to be back in Minnesnowta this weekend to see Dana and Lynn (when Dana is actually there!)

Have Barth, do travel (41,000 since 3/11) Tooling Along

Great time with both of YOU GUYS! Thanks Larry for the aluminum piece, Nice to have dual voltmeters in a good spot to monitor both sets of batteries.

Hope the Colorado Mile will continue as it gives me the chance to return.

I will spend more time next visit. It was good to chat but I would like to see the Dustyjeeper man cave and projects, too. Thumbs Up

My two sisters are always glad to see us and we can park in front of the house as long as we stay. By next trip I should have the VW toad for day trips.

Good luck with the race, Ed. They are lucky to have you. Good excuse to return as any I guess. Hope to see you again soon.

Heading east today. We will poke along for a couple days, plan to be in Minnesnowta for the weekend.

Ran about 300 miles Wed to Gothenburg, Nebrasks. Stayed at a nice city park.

Ran another 300 or so to Lake Anita State Park, Iowa (west of Des Moines) on Thursday. Nice park, almost empty. All sites have lake view, very clean.

Heading for Waseca to see Lynn and Dana to night. Over 2200 miles already, only used 1/2 qt oil. mechanic

No problems at all so far.

Great to hear Steve! I have been staying in and around Larry's. Today we straightened out all his headlight issues, Headlight sockets wire all miss wired, nice and bright now.

I have been leaking a lot of oil and found a finger tight oil return line from the air compressor back to the engine, tightened and power washed as much as I could under there. As much as that was leaking, I am sure my oil consumption will go down.

Tomorrow we will get Larry's coach batteries`and inverter all designed. He should be ready to go when his engine is done and in. Larry volunteered to assist me in setting up my laser equipment next Thursday

Hope your safety and good luck continues! Again so enjoyed our mini GTG here.

Spent Fri and Sat nite with Dana and Lynn. A good way to spend time, relax and chat. Gracious hosts, we hope to see them again soon.

Rough idle on Barth when we arrived was a minor vacuum leak. Fixed in a few minutes.

Took off Sun about 11 AM ran for 9 hours back to Escanaba, Mi area. Slept in a roadside boat ramp lot, no one around.

Home today about 1 PM. A very good run indeed. Almost exactly 3,200 miles. Other than the hose blow the first 45 minutes and the vacuum hose leak, no other leaks or problems at all with the green engine. I guess I must have reassembled it OK!

Good news: Used less than ONE qt of engine oil! At this rate it will be about 1 qt per 4,000 miles. confusion
For a 7.4 liter engine turning around 3,000 rpm this is very acceptable. Evidently, the bottom and is good and tight.

Also: the mileage has increased to 8 mpg! (OK, actually 7.98 over 1300 miles!) It was around 7.5 with the HO cam. For the size and weight of the coach, 454 engine, 4.56 rear axle, I am pleased. I tweaked the timing before we left, did not touch since. I may be able to get more advance and even better mpg.

Overall, the 3200 mile "test drive" went well! Tooling Along

Made it to the GTG, sisters in Denver, saw Mwrench and Djeeper, Dana and Lynn, and the 454 is in the "era of stability"

Life is good. Thanks to all for the hospitality and good times. Thumbs Up
