I just spoke with Lou, one of our site members. Lou and Barb have sold their Barth but many of you have met them. They sponsored a GTG we had in Allegan a few years back. Lou is interested in inviting Barth folks back for another GTG. He is located in Manistee, MI right on Lake Michigan.

Considering the Minnesnowta GTG in June and the busy month of July, we discussed perhaps 3-4 days in second half of August.
With any luck we should all be vaccinated by then. I think most of us would like to go out play again!

We would need to make reservations as early as possible. Several questions:

How many are interested?

Do we want 3 or 4 days? Is there a preference for weekend or weekdays?

If we have some interest, I will get more specifics on location, facilities and cost and we can nail this thing down.

This should be a great time!

The last time i made a trip through the Chicago area, Ole Nose decided to overheat and strand me on I80, love to give it another chance to complete the trip in both directions.

There is a state park just a mile or so north of town. That is the first option.

Orchard Beach State park

That looks like a cool spot. I’m pretty sure we have to get reservations rolling. You know I am hoping to be in if things go as planned. Don’t want to jinx our(Lynn and my) plan this far out. Stay tuned.

Not to thread drift we will see how vaccinating keeps going before we put a pin in the Minnesnowta GTG for a date. As soon as we put a solid we will post in Community Announcements. I may be finalizing stuff and not be able to get off work?

Looking forward to “More Fun in 21”. how can’t it be????

I have tentatively picked Aug 17,18, and 19 for this event. These are Tuesday through Thursday dates. Weekends tend to be more popular and may be booked sooner.

Here is more info on the Orchard beach park, with rates and site info. You can click on the site map for a larger version.

Reservations are not accepted more than 6 months in advance, but we will want to reserve early to be sure of availability.

So by my calculations we need to have commitments by mid month. February 15th for this one. People are going COVID stir crazy. If we drag our feet we will lose out if anything like Minnesota? Am I wrong? I’m not near so have no idea of how busy they are.

Six months should open it up on Feb 17,18, 19. I will book then. There are full hookups, 50 amps and 30 amps with water and electric. I am good for any type. I called Lou to see if there are preferred site locations. I will post when I hear more.

I suspect there will be lots of people ready to get out again.

Ok so it is an extra $9 a day for non-residents, unless they buy a season pass. Sounds fair!!

They started doing that a few years back. Residents can get an annual pass when renewing plates. Used to be $10, they upped it to $12 a year ago. I get one for my truck, coach and the VW.

Allows free access to boat ramps and state parks for a day pass. Camping at the parks adds a daily rate for that. Nonresidents pay $9 a day or $34 annual. For over 3 days the annual is cheaper, but may be useless unless you go somewhere else.

Weather is great here in Florida, won't be heading home any time soon! Cool
