Possible Carlisle PA GTG in '15?
Just returned from a weekend camped at the Carlisle Sports & Outdoor Show. They had invited vintage & custom rv's to dry camp during the show and be part of the displays....lots of fun meeting & interacting with show patrons and other owners of older rv's.

Car-nuts know the Carlisle PA fairgrounds as the producers of some of the largest car shows, flea markets & auction outlets for car related activities in the U.S. It's dry camping, but showers & dump stations are on-site, and lots of attractions within an hour's drive or less (Hershey, Lancaster Amish, Gettysburg, etc) At the show, we threw tomahawks, tried archery, fired a flintlock, fished for trout, toured dozens of new rv's, rode in a monster truck, watched bird dog demos, and just had an inexpensive & fun time. ($25 gets ya 3 nights camping & event passes for two)

Last night I was approached by one of the show's directors, inquirying whether the Barth brand had an organized following and if they might have interest in having a Barth contingent show at next year's event (always the weekend after Labor Day). He suggested things that might entice us, i.e.: providing evening entertainment, having one of the show food vendors feed the group, supply tenting/firewood for camp-central, etc.

Carlisle seems to be an easy location for North-East & Mid-Atlantic Barthers - adjacent to PA Turnpike just west of
Harrisburg....I-81 also passes thru town.

I advised him that I'd bounce it off the Barth group.....I just did......What-da-ya-think?.......

P.S. Todd from Long Island was there too!......no Barth trailer, but with a nifty vintage teardrop!

Hi Nick,

There was a booth that was auctioning off a pristine 2001 always-garaged Newell w/ 61k miles....
owner was hoping for something on north side of $225k....

So, answer is: YES.....You & Tom would fit right in! (Warning: rabid Penn State environment!)

There are some near-local things to do: The Strasburg Railroad Museum and a great Amish-themed little shopping center in Intercourse.

It was a good time. If your a hunter or fisherman it would be great. My group which consisted of 5 Teardrops,2 Scotty's & a Fleetwing that was Tearjerkers & Sisters On The Fly. She has dual citizenship.
I think next year I take the Barth. I'm hoping Scott, the promoter, gets more RV people involved. I think the Vintage campers was a great draw for him.
I think it would be great to see a super Barth turnout, especially the trailers.

As I posted earlier, Lee's Barth took a pick from the promoters. Nice honor!

I too would be interested in a Carlisle meet next September. This is close enough to Atlantic Canada (900 miles) to make the trip attractive.
