Decided to be smart and drive the coach to Florida before ice, snow, winterization, etc.

Left Sun raining windy low 40's. We drove 625 miles to southern Ky. Drove 500 miles to southern Ga. Best run through Atlanta ever. About 130 PM on Mon. Straight through did not have to stop once.

Left Ga this morning. 350 miles to the RV park. No problems with the coach

92 degrees here! I will fly home to the snow on Sunday. We will return by car in early Dec.

Wifi is poor here so I am out of touch a bit.

More to follow.

Have Barth, will travel. Tooling Along

I was hoping you'd be down here a bit longer. I wanted to get your opinion on what's making my Barth run so crummy. Anyway, might see you Saturday. Are you in the same site?

Record high temps around 90. We have been laying low. My friend Kim rode here with me and he does not do heat at all well.

Friday not as hot. We were hoping to hit the gulf beaches near Venice and visit Danny and Suzy but so hot and reports of red tide this far north we did not go. I will visit for sure when I get back.

Still beats snow at home. 3 inches Thurs nite/Fri morning. Another miserable Halloween for trick or treat.

Sadly, flying home tomorrow.

Flew home Sunday Nov 3. Nonstop from Punta Gorda to Traverse City, $99 and 3 hours! Stepped on the plane at 85 degrees. It was 35 in TC when we arrived.

We have had snow on the ground since Oct 30. Record low temps as well. Sure glad I got the coach out of here!

Liz and I will drive the car to Florida in Dec to stay for the winter. More to follow...

Driving down in the car, not the VW Van? To bad we can not figure a way to get the tow dolly to Florida for the return trip. I assume you would be in the Toyota.

You could fly down in the Cessna, 10 hours in the air or 20 hours on the road. Flying would be more fun!!

I keep trying to get my spouse to make the trip, perhaps not for all winter but for maybe a month or so, perhaps in the SUV not Ole Nose.

Have a good trip either way, I am jealous for sure!!!

VW is already in Florida. Towed it down with me. You should definitely try to get there. Can't beat warm and sunny in the winter.

Back in 2005 we bought our 3rd Mercury Sable. Great car and we drove it regularly until 2009 when gas hit $4 a gallon. Then we bought the 2009 Prius hybrid. A really great car, it gets 45-50 mpg all the time.

The Prius now has 170,000 miles and no mechanical issues. Tires, brakes and routine oil changes only. Never a service call or problem. I would buy another one for sure.

Meanwhile the Sable sits a lot, a spare car we used mostly in the winter. Now that we are snow birds we don't drive it much and I have to put on new rotors every spring from sitting in the snow. 14 years old only 90,000 miles. We decided to drive it to Florida and leave it there. 4 seats and AC will beat the VW for day trips, etc.

Flying may be in the future but then I have to jockey both plane and coach back and forth. Maybe Liz would drive the coach?? confusion

Hey Steve, wondering if you're down or on the way. Still nice and warm down here, but we have some serious thunderstorms moving through this morning.

We made it to Florida finally on Friday. Left Thurs AM about 9 around 13 degrees and light snow, arrived at Oakhaven just after noon on Friday. Liz drove much of the way. First time since 2011 I didnt have to drive every mile. Drove straight through Atlanta. South of Atlanta it rained crazy hard. Hydroplaning at 60 could hardly see the lines. Was not that tired but that rain was nonstop. Slept a couple hours at a rest stop.
Still raining! Drove an hour no sign of improvement. Stopped for couple more hours then drove on. No more rain and a good run to Oakhaven.
Barth was a bit stuffy after 5 weeks but no problems. Mid eighties and sunshine and 1 hour and 36 minutes more daylight to boot. Life is good.

No wifi here yet. Soon I hope

Well praise the Lord and pass the ammunition! I think PhotoBucket is working again. It has been 2 months since I could post any new photos... Computer

Here is why we are in Florida. My neighber sent a shot of where the driveway was... He is keeping the mailbox open.

No snow in Florida but in the 30s this morning. Supposed to hit 60 today and warm back up for the weekend so we'll live with it.

Hey Steve, this is not the first time this has happened. Remember back in 2006, it was cold in Fiji that April and Keith Richards fell out of the tree.
