Geez I forgotten all about love bugs, they love CO2 and will really do a job on paint if not removed quickly. Glad your Barth is running well, perhaps some of that will rub off on Nose!!!

Although that looks like a lot of lovebugs, it's really not that bad. When you have to stop every other exit to clean the windshield because you can't see where you are going, that's bad. Tell Nick and everyone we said hi. I finally got back to work this week on a big remodel. Still have a ways to go on the pool house but not in the middle of anything on it right now so a good time to make some money. Take care and safe travels.

Danny you are right about the bugs. That was from 5 hours of driving. I have seen that many in 5 minutes! They come out in the heat, we got lucky it was cool on Monday and we left early.

Glad to hear you are working again. Sorry we didn't get another visit but we never got back your way over to the beach.

We should be at Nick's early afternoon. Will keep everyone posted. Thumbs Up

After a couple great days with friends at Cagles, we left this morning at 915. Drove through S Carolina to N Carolina, through Tennessee into Kentucky. Lots of hills and corners most of the day.

We ended at the KOA in Corbin KY. About 380 miles, arrived at 445. Nice park just far enough away from the highway niose with level shaded sites. So far, 930 miles since leaving Oakhaven.

We will drive to the Wapakoneta KOA tomorrow, around 280 miles. Day after, we will be home... wow we've been gone for 5 months...

Have Barth, will travel Tooling Along

That VW van behind your Monarch looks really cool. Curious what the traffic in Michigan is going to be like with the stay at home order. What a nice sounding trip. Five months sounds like a true Snowbird!!!

Made it to the Wapakoneta KOA, I75 exit 110. Not far from the exit, nice park, wifi and cable. 280 miles today. Easy run light drizzle but upper 60's.

Found the best price this trip for diesel at exit 99. We paid $1.85, most stations were around $2.30! So far, 1220 miles since we left Florida. Got about 9.2 mpg, not bad for hauling the coach and VW up the mountains in Carolinas, Tennessee and Kentucky.

We leave tomorrow on our last leg for home. About 350 to go.
A good trip back from a great winter season. Life is good.

Steve, 9 MPG is pretty good, ole nose does 8 +/- and is only 25 foot, seems the same pulling the boat or Miata. Gas here in Iowa got down to $1.09 however diesel never broke $2.00. Gas is back up $1.79 and diesel about $2.60.

Did some work on the awning of Nose today, the flat strap needed repair and there are some pin holes in the always exposed part. Used Gorilla tape on the underside, hope it holds up for 38 years like the awning did....Ya sure!!

Good wishes for the remainder of your trip, curious about the Detroit traffic.

Steve won't need to go near Detroit.
I've been driving around Jackson and made a trip down M 50.
The traffic is surprisingly heavy, particularly on I 94, considering that Kim Un Witmer practically has us under Marshall Law.

I thought it would be really light Chicago is pretty light. My town was very light but the traffic is increasing. Our Kimmy is relaxing the restrictions.

Took I75 north to Toledo 475 west loop, then US23 north through Ann Arbor, Flint, Bay City, etc. West on M72 to home. About 355 miles. 5 1/2 hours drive time. No wind and real smooth all morning. From MI line north a bit windy and bounced around a bit. Traffic was light.

Pulled in home along side the garage. Have not had the coach there since Oct 26! Things are fine here. We have much to unload and lots to do.

All in all, we had a great winter season trip. The trip south in the fall, north in the spring worked very well. We had no problems with the coach on the road or while we lived in it all winter. 1495 miles south, 1575 miles northbound. About 3,070 miles, no problems.

I have a few more improvements lined up, but most will wait until after the Minnesnowta GTG.
