Yeah, that's why I diverted west. I'm very familiar with US 301-AIA (as well as US 441). Sadly, the FHP website is both incomplete and inaccurate.

It showed US 441 open and SR 6 closed, but I took the latter to bypass the closed former.

Today I finished the last 100 yards of my June trip; StaRV II is back in its pad (but in the front section - the back is still under water).

Skeeters been thick around here...I should maybe put this in Shop 'n' Swap: My latest artistic creation, which I call Montage l'Mosquit,a combination of mosquito performance art on media provided by me. On the market for $50,000.

And a gratuitous shot of Nelson:

In addition to the skeeters, the flooding produces hundreds of little toads and frogs. In a couple of weeks, they'll be big enough to thin out the mosquitoes. The tadpoles will thin out the larvae.

Meanwhile, in just 2 days, the flypaper on the Skeeter-Vac has filled up again. Mad

I do believe we are seeing the impact of global warming. Grab your trousers as it is going to be a ride. Maybe why we have Barths.

Well, the river's almost back in its banks (needs to drop another 6"). The mosquito cloud has subsided - until last week, I could hear the background buzzing down in the woods.

Hopefully, next week I can get on the outside work I need to do.

The only Barth trip left in this spring-summer semester is into Gainesville to get the propane tank filled.

The trouble here is I have to teach them how to fly, skeeters won't come down to their level. Only low enough to suck MY blood. Thumbs Down

I promised some pictures from Lake Vermillion in Minnesnowta's great northland. I took some pictures of Smallmouth Bass. One of the most fighting intense fish around, all released. Sorry no pic's of Muskies saw plenty but none hooked. Walleyes all went quickly into the live well and then to plate. Mmmmmmmm good eating.

The river is FINALLY back in its banks (barely). A combination of the water's retreat, the toads and frogs, fogging, and the Skeeter-Vac has diminished the skeeter population substantially. I expect to be able to do some yard work next week.
