We took a day cruise from Key West to Fort Jefferson, about 70 miles away. We left Key West this morning. The 100 foot catamaran makes 27 knots, a little over 2 hours to the island. It is the largest brick structure in the Western hemisphere. Over 15 MILLION bricks and 30 years were spent and it wasn't ever completed. (Ah yes, your federal tax dollars at work.) The size of it makes me think of the Egyptian pyramids! confusion

Beautiful beaches, excellent snorkeling. Good tour, lots of interesting history. Thumbs Up
