There are a series of hotels designed by Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, mostly built for the railroad that are worth looking for.

Well south in Arazona is http://www.pimaair.org/TitanMM/titanhome.shtml

A Titan silo that is more or less in as found condition, if you are technical it is an interesting chance to visit the past.

And not to be missed, with the following caveat; quote from wife "This is the worst food I have had on this trip"

Gila Bend, AZ - Space Age Restaurant
The Space Age Restaurant, in Gila Bend is alive and well. After the fire, a large banner was placed across the structure, informing passers-by that the structure had been ATTACKED BY ALIENS. As a regular patron, I was disappointed at driving fifty miles to have breakfast there, only to find the place burnt down. I felt that this should have been front page news, and that the media had, once again, failed to inform.
However, all's well that ends well. The Space Age has been resurrected, in most of its former glory. From the outside, it looks the same, flying saucer and all. The inside is more modern, cleaner, but considerably less funky. The new murals in the restaurant are interesting, but don't quite measure up to the old ones from the sixties. They have that new yuppie low-voltage can lighting that hangs from two clotheslines. I think the food (breakfast is all I ever have there) is fine, especially the chorizo and eggs.

South of Vegas next to Laughlin is Oatman, AZ - Burros of Oatman

http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tips/getAttraction.php3?tip_AttractionNo==89

Oatman is located on historic Route 66, a town originally named after the Oatman family was attacked and killed by Indians nearby. Oatman was founded and once thrived due to its proximity to the richest gold mines in the state, which operated from 1904 through 1931. The town population peaked at 10,000 during the mining years, when it produced $36 million in ore. After the mines closed down, the burros used as pack animals were set free -- but they never left. Another tip, don't try to ride them like the lady I saw bucked off and kicked: I just love those city folk.

Happy trails

If you plan to hang around Vegas we really liked "Sams Town" for an RV place to stay. Clean,quiet,beautiful spacious park with immaculate amenities (pools,jacuzzi's,workout rooms)and easily within walking distance of the Sams Town casino. It is a distance from the strip though and would require a cab ride but otherwise a VERY quiet place to stay and relax. have fun!
