Just completed a super trip. Loved the FREE buses all over the island, provided by LL Bean! Very friendly and clean area.

Let's hear more!!......Acadia Nat'l. Park is on our short list for our September outing...As newlyweds, we did the Bar Harbor/ferry/Nova Scotia thing, but that was way back in 1971.....

Hi Lee,

Best campground is Bar Harbor Campground, very clean and family based. It's a little different as they do not take reservations. You just stop at the office and then drive around the grounds, find a spot and pull in. Then go back to the office and pay your fee, $34/day for full E/W/S and $30 for E/W. It's cash only. The FREE bus stops at the camp ground to take you into town and there you can pick up any of the other 6 buses to tour Mt. Desert Island. You need to use a car or the touring trolley ($25 each) to go to the top of Cadillac mountain. There are 70 restaurants, the best for the money is Poor Boys that opens at about 4PM for early birds. Lots of craft and art stores.
