We have for sale the 1995 Barth Oshkosh SB 30 Command Center Bus which was used by the Oklahoma Police Department after the Oklahoma City Disaster. The Bombing site was this vehicles Maiden Voyage and was at the site for 391 continuous days. We My wife and I were to transform it into a food truck but with the recent decline in my wife’s health our dream is no more. I can say that this Vehicle has ALOT of potential. Food Truck, Mobile Home, Job Site Command Center, Ect. It has a 5.9 Cummins Diesel Engine, and an Automatic Allison Transmission which only have 13,000 miles on them. Good Tires, Air brakes, standard radio, small sink for hands, fridge, all electrical needed, 15 kw generator, hvac unit which needs charging, a lot of storage space underneath. Pictures say a lot. We are asking $16k or best offer. Motor Oils and Fuel Filters have been changed. Mechanic says its in excellent shape.

We considered something like this or a bus and doing a motorhome conversion . It seemed like a good idea to build the custom floor plan we want .
After checking with our insurance agent , we decided it would be too difficult to insure here in Louisiana . It seems it is hard to find a company that will write a policy on a home built motorhome .

A rare Barth indeed. Apparently a Ford/Oshkosh chassis, with front end 5.9 Cummins engine, Allison trans, and air brakes! hmm

Sounds interesting but unfortunately one photo doesn't help much. Am I missing something?

1995 Oshkosh (Barth) SB30 Mobile Command Post. Last date in service: 2012. Last known oil change 2009; Safety Inspection 2007. Starts with boost. Diesel Engine. Automatic Transmission. Exterior: White/Blue. Minor dents, scratches and dings. Tire Condition: Unknown. Decals have been removed and impressions remain. Interior: Gray/Blue cloth and vinyl. Stock Radio. AC/Cold. Tilt steering and remove mirrors. Additional Equipment: GVWR 30,000#

Emergency equipment will be left on if buyer is in Law Enforcement, if not equipment will be removed. Oklahoma City Police markings will be removed. The red & blue lights could be changed out to white lights for great exterior lighting for camping.

The A/C and Heater come on when it is running, just did not cool well. The mechanic thinks it needs refrigerant. The monitor for the rear view camera comes on, however we could not get the camera to work. The drink tray counter is off from where they had radio equipment mounted. It is in one piece and would require several screws to put it back on the mount.

Most of the electrical items worked, lights, ceiling vent fan, etc. Some of the items that did not work are most likely due to electrical wiring issues. When the radio shop pulled radio equipment they cut wiring which may impact some lights. The mechanic advised the batteries on the unit will need to be replaced, there are 6 for the vehicle and 2 for the generator. Some of the cargo latches are missing parts making them difficult to secure side and under unit storage

A: Yes, the bus has a custom HVA/C unit installed with floor vents throughout unit. Not sure on current status of system. The interior was inspected on 8.27 and there were no apparent leaks. Was repaired at one time for leaking around radio and communications access points in the roof. To the best of our knowledge the vehicle is road worthy. Do believe that some repairs would be needed to take on long trip. There are no known engine, transmission or drive train issues. The problems experienced with this unit were always electrical due to the large amount of communications equipment added.

No hitch. There are tow hooks mounted on the frame both front and rear so it would be easy to add a hitch. Tires are original with only 12,500 miles on them. They have ample tread and don't show signs of dry rot. Keep in mind the unit is 20 years old, but had been kept inside until taken out of service a little over a year ago. It is a 190 hp diesel. It would need at the least batteries, fluid changes and good overall inspection for minor repairs. The engine is solid and sounds good. Mechanics say the on board generator would need a tune up and fluids changed. There are several side and under bell storage compartments which need parts to make them securable.
