Donald Harrison Dugmore -

a direct descendant of John and Priscilla Alden who arrived on the Mayflower at Plymouth in 1620.

In WWII he served with the US Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant with the 1377th Army Air Force Base Unit, Not Atlantic Wing, Air Transport Command. He was a bal turret gunner on a B-24 with the 8th Air Force Bombardment Group. His plane was shot down over Berlin on March 22, 1944. He was a POW for 15 months at Stalag Luft 1in Barth, Germany. He earned the Air Medal Award, the POW medal, the American Theater Service Medal, the EAME Theater Service Medal with a Bronze Star as well as other awards and decorations. He was a member of the National Ex-POW Association and the MA Chapter One of Ex-POWs.

The articles in this collection include items Mr. Dugmore brought back. There are unopened Boxed cigarettes, Boxed but open cigarettes, rolled cigarettes, 6 original POW pictures holding prisoner ID plate cut to post in book, 11 original photos of Mr. Dugmore training in Florida, Texas and Wisconsin and shaking hands at Department of Air Force. There are 4 copies of photos of Stalag Luft 1, showing bunks, South Compound, Guard Tower and Bathhouse. Finally there are various Ex-POW memorabilia that Mr. Dugmore collected over the years including pins, ribbon, necktie, hat and plaques.
