Astronomers have revealed the first ever
close-up photo of a black hole
during a groundbreaking global event.
Eight radio telescopes around the world have been pointed at two
of the cosmic behemoths,
one at the heart of our galaxy the Milky Way,
and another nearly 54 million light years away.
Now, after two years of acquiring and processing the data,
the international team of scientists
at the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) programme
have presented their first results.
