What in the world are these? Well, first, they aren't in this world. Rosetta is an ESA spacecraft which has been on a 10-year journey to comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Philae is a 220 lb. probe riding Rosetta, and which will be ejected to land on the comet, the first such soft landing.

Philae apparently bounced on landing... Anchors didn't deploy.... Waiting for next transmission window for pictures... Hope all is well... Thanks rusty for the word-up on this event...
