What?

Supernova 1987a (The "SN1987a" is the designation for the first supernova discovered in 1987) was the first in many years to be visible to the naked eye on Earth. Being in the Large Magellanic Cloud (one of the Milky Way's dwarf satellites), it was visible only from very far south.
