Aluminum slider windows
The windows in my Breakaway are grooved on the bottom of the sliding window which rests on a flange in the middle of the frame. Whatever material that was originally isinstalled in the groove has long ago worn-out and now the window is resting directly on the flange which is getting shaved-off every time the window is opened or closed.
Anyone have a similar condition and how did you repair it?

We have this problem with our boats often exacerbated by dirt from mud dobbers getting into the tracks. Someone found narrow teflon strips that could be trimmed and fitted into the channels. As I remember the width was approximate and the length was quite long, enough for several boats window channels.

No, the pieces that act as bearings, to prevent metal-to-metal of horizontal sliding windows in aluminum tracks.
not gaskets, seals or trim.

The typical window runs in plastic channels, inserts in the metal frame. These are shorter than the glass they support, so they can be slid out of the way to allow removal of the glass,

I used plastic banding material and cut them to fit the channels, This raises the window off the center flange and provides a surface that will guide smoothly without metal to metal contact. I used a bit of glue under the strips to keep them from moving. A little bit of silicon grease on the top of the plastic strips and the windows slide easily.

Micheal, I sent you a picture via text!

Those little plastic inserts (original) will not stay in place once the channel is worn.
