Fugeddaboudit. No matter what the fuel or delivery system, when it's running on all cylinders, GO! No engine is designed to do well at idle; drive moderately and get the temperature up to operating.

Virtually every point made in this link is wrong.

Sometimes I think we're alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we're not.
In either case the idea is quite staggering.

When I had a 1954 XK120 in Pennsylvania, I used a block heater in the winter since I didn't have a garage. The engine sure did seem to like it as did the batteries. Here in Tennessee, my vehicles are in a garage that has foam insulation on the walls and ceilings. When it's 20 degrees outside, it's 30 degrees inside. I usually wait about 30 to 60 seconds before I take off. But, I think the key to what Rusty said is "Drive moderately". Regardless of whether you have a modern or old fashioned car, be nice to it and it will be nice to you.

I saw a similar article headline "25 reasons to warm up your vehicle" Must be someone wanting to sell gas, engines or has a serious brain malfunction in the Media lately.
