Undercounter Water Filter
Should have gone south to winterize. Drain your undercounter water filters!

Having trouble locating a replacement filter. The set up is original on my '92 Barth. Both the inlet (bottom) and outlet (top) ports are screw on, not quick connect. I would prefer to not retro-fit to quick connects.

Does anyone have an idea as to where I could find a replacement? Thanks for your thoughts.

Have you tried removing the fittings. Ted, it appears in the last picture that the fitting can be removed.

Thumbs Up Nice job with your camera and the Photobucket Thumbs Up
cheers

Great tutor "picturing". It's not hard - little slow but doable. Thanks Guy. To others, don't be discouraged - I'm still flipping.
Suppose fittings are removable from the filter but would need to find a new filter into which the removed fittings would fit. Inre quick connects, simply, I trust the screw-on's more.
BTW Kevin, your man Labron is tearing it up. Sure your proud.

Thanks for the sports update TED. How did you know what my top three favorites are? Just for the record Sports is third on my list only behind Jock-itch and Polio.

Anyway you need to put a reverse osmosis water system in the Barth. Now is your opportunity. My reverse osmosis system is built to be removed. If I had to store the Barth outside, there is a place in my shop to hook it up in the shop. You need to keep reverse osmosis membranes in use and wet. Don't leave a reverse osmosis system freeze either.

ROTFLMAO Have you tried wrapping that old filter with duct tape? ROTFLMAO

My only experience with reverse osmosis was a long time ago (15 yrs. old and too much gin). And when I became a "Supporting Member" I pledged to donate my duck tape savings. Support this site - find a filter please.

Ted, this is a page from a local RV center by my home. Most local RV centers belong to a network of places they can buy RV supplies from. If this looks close you could try one near you.

My badge is newer than yours, but that means nothing. I know members that donated but have not been updated. We are lucky Bill NY has the time to pay the bills. He is busy with his real job.

Should acknowledge my date's forgiveness -said her dress was washable. Admittedly, she was dating up.
Thinking about installing a shut off on the inlet line - would play when replacing the filter, and the immediate need to find a replacement filter.

Thanks for the information, Kevin. Do not have a "local RV dealer", but with your info found this.

I knew it would be easy to find a replacement water filter cartridge. You better get the bypass tube-

So your dates dress does not get soiled with the pink stuff again next spring.

Well don't feel bad, I took mine filter out when I winterized it and now I can't get it to go back in place without leaking horribly. Tried for about 2 hours before I gave up. Even tried new o rings but nodda. Ordered a new one but I really don't think that is the issue. Your damned if you do and damned if you don't. For the price though I did the math and for me $40 shipped for a filter that they say to replace ever year sure does buy a lot of spring water. Smiler

Use bottled water myself. Both the winterizing "pink stuff" and the system not being regularly used raise concern - Montezuma's revenge and possible long term health issues. Could crack a beer to brush my teeth in the morning - never too early to start.

Haha, bottled water when you got beer. You must be close to Cleveland then Smiler LOL Yeah got my new filter today only to put it on nd find it is leaking just the same. Seems the shut off valve lost a piece of the valve over the winter. Looks like I wasted $35, off to buy a plug now.

I know retrofitting is a dirty word but my unit came with two under counter filter, one for the ice maker and one for the drinking water faucet on the sink. Never knew bout the one for the fridge until the first spring when I had a waterfall from the burst filter. Couple that with the fact that you had to be a friggin contortionist to get to the fridge filter and retrofit became very desirable. I replumbed and combined both filter to one GE screw on filter. its right inside my cabinet door for easy maintenance.

Found a filter to replace the original on my '92 Breakaway:
Flow Pur FP10GKT 2X10 GAC/KDF 1/2" MPT In-Line Replacement Filter Cartridge, available on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod...01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The input fitting is as the original. The new filter's output fitting can be unscrewed and the output fitting from the old filter screwed directly into new filter. Nice when things work out. Thumbs Up

Enjoy that clean water. Doesn't seem too pricey either!
