Hello, My name is Dennis. I am new to this forum and have recently purchased a 28 foot 1991 Barth Breakaway. It is in pristine condition however I just realized that the parking brake does not work at all. I reside in Vero Beach Florida. 6 weeks ago I took it to a Spartan certified service provider in Fort Pierce, Florida.
When I called inquiring about my vehicle, the technician tells me that he needs a parking brake diagram for this model in order to do the job. He said finding it has been difficult because of the age of the vehicle. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I feel like I am having to research for them which is something that is clearly not my job to do.I really could use some advice on now to proceed with this matter.

The Breakaways were built on a Spartan chassis. Most have an air over hydraulic brake system. Do a search here on the site.

You may be able to contact Spartan Motors with your VIN# to get some info. They are not always that helpful but give it a try.

This post is an add on to my previous post, regarding the parking brake on my 91 Barth breakaway. I wanted to include more information regarding my coach. The model number is: EC 2242 on a Spartan chassis,Cummins 6BTS-5.3T.

Don't know if you got the info you needed. The parking brake is mounted on the rear of the transmission and has cable running to an air cylinder. The cylinder contains a strong spring which activate the brake. Air is run to the cylinder to compress the spring, thus releasing the brake.
