I had an erratic shut off on my Onan 6.5 NH series P. It was the low oil pressure cutoff switch located above the oil filter behind the fan shroud. The Onan dealer also added that if the oil foams badly, it will trigger the low oil pressure switch, and kill the engine. Check your oil for antifoaming agents.
