My Monarch has a sliding cover for the steps. It has never worked. Finally got around to looking at it.

The cover retracts under the seat when not used. It is then inside the top of the wheel well, behind a sheet metal panel. When being used it slides forward to cover the steps. It is supposed to be moved by an electric motor driven rack and pinion system.

I removed the motor and pinion gearbox. The cover slides were stiff but when lubed the cover now slides back and forth.

The motor is badly corroded and not repairable. Looks like road slop got up there. The gear box seems OK so far. It can be disassembled and lubed. I have not found any kind of information on the assembly....

Does anyone recognize this, or have replaced one? I have not found any discussion on it yet. Thanks

At least now I can use the cover manually. If and when I find a motor I can install it again.

You wouldn't be lucky enough to have a label on the motor. Anyway the motor should be available somewhere. It looks familiar. About 3" x 1.5" is that correct?

Hey Steve, I wanted to take a guess. How about a 1997 Cadillac electric window motor and gearbox assy.
