Heres a great one ladies and gentlemen. Have the old 93 Barth Breakaway Out for A Trip this weekend. Getting ready to leave, go to open the door... snap. Door handle broke. Tried using tools to get the latch open... no success. The connection from the outside handle to the inside handle broke. Couldn't get in the windows.. all locked. 2 hours later, off came the shower skylight, and down I go. That was a sight at the RV Park.

Anyone else ever have this happen?

What perseverance and thinking outside the box. We better take this posting down we wouldn’t want the burglars and the crazies to have a blueprint for getting into our Barth’s.

Nice job. Did your u get anyone to video and did you have on your red suit like Santa down the chimney?

No video, but had A interesting show for the other campers at the campground.

Always an adventure, and make memories they say. Certainly the case today. Now, to take the latch apart and fix.

Any other Barth Breakaway owners ever tackle this job? Latch on inside works, outside... nothing.

Not sure about the Breakaway but my Monarch has cables running from the handles to the latch. Also a cable goes to the top to release the door holdopen latch. If you remove the inner door panel you should be able to get to them.

You reminded me of a horror story from some RV service place. I'm thinking he said it was a Camping World somewhere. Owner brought coach in to replace the fuel filler hose. "Techs" cut a hole in the floor to access the tank, just covered it with carpet when done. Meanwhile, they locked themselves out. Removed and wrecked the vent fan to get in. Meanwhile left the house batteries on high charge and fried them. Claimed that was the way it was when he brought it in!

Any wonder why I still do my own work even if I don't feel like it?

Good luck with that door. Just park it in the "hood" for a night. They'll figure out how to get in! ROTFLMAO

I was kidding about deleting. I’ve had that latch apart. Pretty simple design. I can’t remember exactly but it’s the same in my 72. I’ve re-rework them both taken them apart cleaned them put in new springs If you could find new old stock they’re expensive and nearly impossible to find. If I remember correctly it’s a bargman 300 others have replaced them with newer versions

I posted some time back of a source for inside handle. I think they had the other stuff also. Do a search for door handle.
