I have a new air intake "hose" but the orange tube is the same size. I can't get the black on the orange or is it the other way around. Where do I get this stuff?

It was a bear getting this newer black air intake tube on. The plastic is very hard & there is not alot of room through the front of the engine. It seems to stay on better up top but now I need to connect it to the strange black box below. Don't understand the concept of this box as it is perpendicular to what I would consider where air flow would be highest(dead forward) But it looks pretty official & fits like a glove on the MH. I guess I could tape the orange tube onto the black tube. Would I use aluminum tape? Any ideas?
